Sam Byram targets promotion with Leeds United

Sam Byram believes that Leeds United should be looking to challenge for promotion from the Championship next season.

Leeds United defender Sam Byram believes that the club should be looking to win promotion from the Championship next season.

The Whites will return for pre-season action on Monday, as new head coach Uwe Rosler begins work at Elland Road following his appointment last month.

Byram says that he has been impressed by the work that has been done at the Yorkshire outfit over the summer.

"I haven't met Uwe Rosler yet, so I'm looking forward to getting back to pre-season and trying to impress him throughout the month," Byram told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"There's new staff that have come in as well, so I'm looking forward to getting back in and meeting all the new players as well. It shows that the club are making moves in the right direction. They're bringing people in that have got experience and young players to add to the squad. These are all good things.

"As a team, we've got to look towards getting promotion. That's the main focus. From a personal point of view, I want to keep trying to improve and play as many games as I can."

Leeds last played in the Premier League 11 years ago.
