Cellino 'steps down as Leeds president'

Massimo Cellino has reportedly stepped down as club president of Leeds United with immediate effect.

The news comes after the Italian businessman failed in his appeal against disqualification of ownership.

On Monday, the Football League announced that Cellino was forced to leave his role until April 10 after he failed an owners' and directors' test.

Now, according to Sky Sports News, the club's majority shareholder has opted to relinquish his position as club president at Elland Road.

An investigation by the Football League was launched after Cellino was found guilty of tax evasion in Italy.
