Modibo Diakite to snub Liverpool?

Lazio defender Modibo Diakite has decided to join Serie A rivals Napoli at the end of the season, according to his agent.

The French centre-back, who is of Senegalese descent, is reportedly wanted by Liverpool, as Jamie Carragher's retirement leaves the Reds with a void to fill.

However, Ulisse Savini has revealed that Naples is now Diakite's preferred destination.

"Diakite should leave Lazio in June on a free transfer to accept the offer from Napoli," he told Radio Sei.

The 25-year-old joined Aquile from Pescara in 2006.
