Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij to undergo medical at Lazio

Lazio have confirmed that they are closing in on the signing of Netherlands centre-back Stefan de Vrij.

The Feyenoord star has been heavily linked with Manchester United after playing an integral part in Louis van Gaal's Holland side that reached the World Cup semi-finals.

However, it appears as though United have missed out on one of their defensive targets, with Lazio announcing on their Twitter account that the 22-year-old has arrived in Rome to undergo a medical at the club.

De Vrij has made 118 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord since debuting in 2010.
