Justin Mapp came close to opening the scoring for the visitors when he fired at goal from close range, but Donovan Ricketts was on hand to make the stop.

The Impact thought they had taken the lead when Danny Toia blasted the ball into the net after latching on to Ignacio Piatti's cross into the box, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Robbie Keane could have given the Galaxy the lead just before the break when Juninho released his run through the middle, but Evan Bush raced off his line to make the vital block.

In the second half, Didier Drogba turned his man on the edge of the box and powered a strike towards the top corner, but Ricketts made the vital stop.

Los Angeles threatened when Gyasi Zardes raided forward and found Baggio Husidic on the edge of the box. The midfielder lined up a strike, only to see his effort sail over the crossbar.

Montreal had one great chance in the dying minutes to earn the win when Drogba found space in the inside left channel, but he sent his shot wide of the target as the match ended all square.
