South Korea go through to the quarter-finals of the Olympic football tournament after securing a point against Gabon.

South Korea have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Olympics despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Gabon at Wembley this afternoon.

A point was all that was required for the Asian nation to qualify for the last eight due to Switzerland's defeat at the hands of group winners Mexico.

Korea were aiming to top the pool themselves but were wasteful in the first half as both Arsenal striker Park Chuyoung and Jacheol Koo were denied by Gabon keeper Didier Ovono.

In fact it was Gabon, who still had their own slim hopes of qualification, that ended the match the stronger.

Both former AC Milan forward Pierre Aubameyang and Jerry Obiang came close but Korean keeper Sungryong Jung ensured that the game would end goalless.
