Juventus return to the top of Serie A following a 2-1 win over third-placed Lazio.

Juventus have returned to the top of Serie A after a 2-1 win over Lazio this evening.

The home side were inches away from taking the lead after just six minutes when Chiellini's low ball across the six-yard box was met by Quagliarella, but his effort drifted narrowly past the post.

The first clear cut chance of the match fell to the same player but Quagliarella's effort when through on goal was saved by Marchetti.

They wouldn't have to wait much longer for the opener, however, as Andrea Pirlo's pass found Pepe who controlled the ball on his chest with his back to goal before unleashing a bicycle kick past Marchetti.

Moments later Vidal tried a shot from inside his own half, forcing Marchetti to scramble back and tip the ball over the crossbar. The Lazio keeper was in action again straight after when Quagliarella's turn and shot forced a save.

Despite Juventus's dominance, Lazio got an equaliser on the stroke of half time when Mauri rose highest to head the visitors level.

The second half panned out in much the same way as the first, with the hosts creating all the chances. They finally regained the lead with less than ten minutes to go when Alessandro Del Piero beat the wall and the keeper with his free kick.

In the closing minutes of the match, as the visitors poured forward looking for an equaliser, substitute Kozak brought down Bonnuci, resulting in a second yellow card for the Lazio man.

The result means that Juventus move one point clear of AC Milan at the top of Serie A while Lazio stay in third.
