Juventus run riot over Catania

Juve run riot over Catania

Juventus have scored four times without reply in a comfortable victory over Catania tonight, keeping pace with runaway leaders Roma in impressive fashion.

Antonio Conte rotated his side to face struggling Catania but the Bianconeri were able to take the lead regardless on 27 minutes, albeit through fortunate circumstances.

Arturo Vidal was the man who made the breakthrough, with his strike from range taking a wicked deflection before finding the far corner.

Seven minutes later Andrea Pirlo stepped up to double Juve's advantage from 25 yards, getting enough curl behind his set piece to leave new Catania coach Luigi de Canio facing an uphill task to rouse his troops at the interval.

Midway through the second half Carlos Tevez made the three points safe despite Catania's efforts to press higher up the pitch, rounding the goalkeeper before finishing neatly from close range.

Five minutes later Leonardo Bonucci added his name to the scoresheet, meeting a cross from substitute Sebastian Giovinco at the near post.

Gonzalo Bergessio kept letting fly from range for the visitors but his efforts were fruitless, as De Canio's misery was compounded by Tiberio Guarente's late dismissal for a second bookable offence.
