How Juventus could line up against Lazio

Sports Mole looks at how Juventus could line up for their Serie A showdown with fellow title hopefuls Lazio on Monday.

Juventus will be aiming to cement their position at the top of the Serie A table when they face off against Lazio in a title showdown on Monday.

Juve currently boast a six-point lead atop the rankings, although that may be cut down by Monday depending on Inter Milan's and Atalanta's results at the weekend, while Lazio must overcome the Old Lady to keep any chances of a first Serie A crown since 2000 alive.

Maurizio Sarri's Juventus have not performed up to their normal high standards as of late, losing to AC Milan before drawing with high-flying sides in Atalanta and Sassuolo in the last few weeks.

However, a ninth Serie A triumph in a row is still in the Old Lady's hands heading into the final five games of the season, and a win here would leave Sarri's men in a strong position to boast the Scudetto once more.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Juventus could line up for the visit of Lazio.

POSS JUV XI vs. LAZ

Out: Federico Bernardeschi (suspended), Sami Khedira (muscular), Mattia De Sciglio (thigh)
Doubtful: Matthijs de Ligt (shoulder)

With Sarri having to contend with a hectic fixture schedule and an underwhelming set of results over the past few weeks, the Juventus manager is set to ring the changes to the starting lineup for Monday's showdown with Lazio.

The Old Lady's only confirmed absentees are Sami Khedira and Mattia De Sciglio, while Merih Demiral made his long-awaited return to the matchday squad against Sassuolo following a cruciate ligament rupture.

Sarri will be forced into one change after Federico Bernardeschi picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the six-goal stalemate with Sassuolo, meaning Douglas Costa will come in on the right-hand side of attack.

The final spots in the front two will most likely be occupied by Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo, the latter of whom sits just one goal behind Lazio's Ciro Immobile in the race for the Capocannoniere.

Gonzalo Higuain netted Juve's second goal in midweek but is set to be dropped in favour of Dybala, while Danilo, who opened the scoring against Sassuolo, will most likely be replaced by the returning Juan Cuadrado.

Wojciech Szczesny, Matthijs de Ligt and Alex Sandro are set to keep their spots in Sarri's backline, but Leonardo Bonucci is expected to replace veteran centre-back Giorgio Chiellini.

De Ligt has endured an injury-plagued season and the 20-year-old's shoulder seemed to be giving him some discomfort in midweek, but the defender has not been officially ruled out for this clash and should make the starting lineup.

In midfield, Rodrigo Bentancur is a shoo-in, while Adrien Rabiot is in line to replace Blaise Matuidi from the opening whistle.

Miralem Pjanic, who has already agreed to join Barcelona for the 2020-21 campaign, should occupy the final spot in the midfield three ahead of Aaron Ramsey.
