Gianluigi Buffon: 'We must make the most of Champions League chance'

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon stresses the importance of making the most of his side's first Champions League final appearance in 12 years.

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has urged his side to make the most of their appearance in the final of the Champions League.

The Old Lady ended a 12-year wait to reach the showpiece of Europe's premier competition this evening, drawing 1-1 with holders Real Madrid at the Bernabeu to seal a 3-2 aggregate triumph.

The Champions League title is the only major trophy that has eluded Buffon in his illustrious career so far, and he has insisted that his side will not be there to simply "make up the numbers" when they meet Barcelona in Berlin on June 6.

"You don't get many chances to play in a match like the Champions League final. When they come around you have to take them," Buffon told reporters.

"We're not going to Berlin just to make up the numbers. This Champions League final is a massive opportunity."

Juventus have won the competition twice before in their history, the most recent of which came back in 1996.
