Edgar Davids has said his former Juventus teammate Alessandro Del Piero is irreplaceable for club and country.

Former Juventus midfielder Edgar Davids has heaped praise on his former club captain Alessandro Del Piero.

Del Piero is set to leave Juventus after a staggering 19 years with the club. His former teammate Davids said he is in no doubt as to Del Piero's legendary status for club and country.

"Football will never see another Alessandro Del Piero," Davids told Goal.com.

"Juventus will never be able to buy a similar player.

"Nobody can take his place in the team. He achieved every one of his personal objectives with so much flair and personality."

Del Piero played 91 times for Italy, the most famous of his 27 international goals coming in the 2006 World Cup semi-final against Germany.
