Half-Time Report: Italy cruising past 10-man Netherlands

Italy cruise into a two-goal half-time lead over 10-man Netherlands, courtesy of a goal from Ciro Immobile and a Daniele De Rossi penalty.

Goals from Ciro Immobile and Daniele De Rossi have helped Italy into a 2-0 half-time lead over 10-man Netherlands in tonight's friendly in Bari.

Both nations had new managers in the dugout for the first time, with Antonio Conte and Guus Hiddink replacing Cesare Prandelli and Louis van Gaal after the World Cup.

It was the Azzurri who struck first as Immobile got the Conte era off to a flying start, tapping past goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen before stroking into an empty net on three minutes.

Hiddink's second coronation as Netherlands coach got worse just six minutes later, with Bruno Martins Indi shown a straight red card for fouling Simone Zaza inside the area.

Roma midfielder De Rossi stepped up to dispatch the penalty, sending Cillessen the wrong way for his 16th international goal.

Italy tried in vain to capitalise on their numerical advantage, with Immobile and Zaza both spurning good opportunities to add a third, but the Dutch held on to give themselves the faintest of hopes in the second half.
