Andrea Barzagli, Mario Balotelli pick up injuries

Italy's preparations for Euro 2012 have been dealt a blow following news that Mario Balotelli has picked up an injury during training.

The Azzurri open their campaign against world and European champions Spain in Gdansk on June 10 but could be without their enigmatic striker after he withdrew from training today with a leg injury.

Early reports are unclear whether it is a knee of a thigh injury that is afflicting the Manchester City star.

The news adds to Cesare Prandelli's injury woes, with Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli also ruled out for the group stages with a calf complaint.
