Sonko set to join Ipswich

Free agent Ibrahima Sonko is set to sign for Ipswich Town, according to Sky Sports News.

The Senegalese defender has been without a club since leaving Stoke City at the end of last season.

He had been training with former club Reading in pre-season but Royals manager Brian McDermott revealed that he turned down the club's contract offer.

The 30-year-old is now expected to move to Portman Road after playing a reserve game for the Tractor Boys on Tuesday evening.

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has spoken of his desire to bring in a centre-back after conceding 12 goals in their last two games, including seven away at Peterborough.
