Reo-Coker leaves Ipswich

Ipswich Town have confirmed that former England Under-21 international Nigel Reo-Coker has left the club and become a free agent.

The midfielder, 28, who moved to Portman Road on a short-term deal in October, rejected the Tractor Boys' offer of a new five-month contract.

"Nigel is not staying," said Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy, who went on to explain why Reo-Coker was not included in the squad for today's match at Cardiff City.

"Fair play to him, he came in suited and booted yesterday and ready to travel [to Cardiff], but he wants a longer term contract.

"I understand that. I think he may have some other offers. He's been great but if he not going to stay then there was no point in him travelling."

Reo-Coker made 11 first-team appearances during his time at Ipswich.
