McCarthy: 'Martin won't be sold'

Mick McCarthy has insisted that Lee Martin will not be allowed to leave Ipswich Town during this month's transfer window.

The former Manchester United winger will be out of contract at the end of the season and as a result some reports had linked him with a transfer away from Portman Road.

However, McCarthy has revealed that he is no hurry to sell Martin, as well as Carlos Edwards and Andy Drury, whose deals are also nearing a conclusion.

"They are not going to be sold, they are going to stay here," McCarthy told the East Anglian Daily Times. "I'm quite happy to let them run out. We will negotiate with them for new contracts when the time comes."

Martin joined Ipswich from Man United in 2009.
