Mick McCarthy, Terry Connor extend Ipswich Town contracts

Ipswich Town announce that Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor have signed new contracts.

Ipswich Town have announced that manager Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor have signed new contracts with the club.

The duo, who formerly worked together at Wolverhampton Wanderers, have extended their current deals until the end of the 2017-18 season, with Ipswich also having the option to extend again to 2020 if they wish.

"TC and I are obviously delighted to have extended our contracts," McCarthy told the club website.

"We are really enjoying the job here and the results on the pitch have improved year on year. In a relentless and tough league that the Championship is, that is testament to the hard work the players have put in.

"I think we have a team we can all be proud of and it's mine and TC's job to make sure that continues."

McCarthy, 56, and Connor, 53, arrived at Portman Road in November 2012, guiding the Tractor Boys away from relegation trouble in their first season before mounting a playoff charge in 2013-14 and then finishing sixth last term.

This season, Ipswich are seventh after 27 games and only out of the playoff places on goal difference.
