Ipswich 'not concerned' about McCarthy contract

Ipswich Town are not worried by the fact that Mick McCarthy's contract runs out in a little over a year, joint managing director Ian Milne has insisted.

McCarthy has turned the Tractor Boys from relegation candidates into playoff contenders since taking over in November 2012 and his current deal expires at the end of next season.

"I'm sure [owner Marcus Evans] is thinking about that. But there's 15 months to go and a lot can happen in that time," Milne told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"I think it's a little bit early to find out what Mick or Marcus wants to do.

"It's a two-party thing. Mick is extremely welcome. He is a great part of the club for us."

Saturday's victory over Birmingham City, Ipswich's first in four games, saw the Blues move to within four points of the playoffs.
