Michael Dawson: 'Burnley win has heightened survival urgency'

Dawson: 'Burnley win has heightened urgency'

Hull City defender Michael Dawson has conceded that his side's urgency to beat the drop has been heightened following Burnley's win over Manchester City.

The Clarets pulled within a point of safety and within three points of Steve Bruce's men on Saturday, leaving Dawson frustrated with his side's inability to take a victory from their clash against Leicester City.

He told the club's official website: "All we can do is take care of ourselves. Saturday was a chance for us to move well clear and we're disappointed we couldn't take it, although you'd take a point after going down to ten men.

"We don't want to be looking over our shoulder – that maybe changes the way that you play. We want to get safe as soon as possible." The Tigers face Chelsea at the KC Stadium on Sunday.
