Paul McShane: 'Mike Phelan has made instant impact'

Hull City defender Paul McShane praises the impact of assistant manager Mike Phelan after the Tigers earned four points in two games since his appointment.

Hull City defender Paul McShane has revealed that new assistant manager Mike Phelan has added a new dimension to training at the club.

Phelan, who was assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, arrived at the KC Stadium last week, and after the side returned to form with four points from two games, McShane has admitted that he and his teammates have welcomed his addition to the backroom staff.

The 29-year-old is quoted by Clubcall.com as saying: "Mike's been really good already. We were saying in the dressing room that he's going to win the first assistant manager of the month.

"He's done very well, the sessions we've had with him have been really good. He's brought something new and different to the group and training has been intense."

Hull have improved to 15th place in the Premier League table after they defeated Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.
