The Terriers will be without suspended centre-half Mathias Jorgensen.

Huddersfield defender Jon Gorenc Stankovic is hoping to make a rare Premier League appearance on Sunday against Wolves.

The Terriers will be without suspended centre-half Mathias Jorgensen for the trip to Molineux and boss David Wagner is considering his options.

Stankovic, 22, who has featured only once in the top flight this season after recovering from a long-term knee injury, could be a straight replacement.

"'Zanka' (Jorgensen) was in very good form, a regular starter, but we had this in the past when we had to be creative and find a solution for a suspended player," Wagner said.

"This is nothing big that we have to deal with. It could open the door for Stankovic or it could open the door for us to revert to four at the back."

Stankovic followed Wagner to Huddersfield from Borussia Dortmund in July 2016, but failed to appear in the top flight last season as he worked his way back from anterior cruciate ligament damage.

The Slovenia Under-21 international started against Manchester City in August and his goal in a 6-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium means he is the Terriers' joint top scorer this season.

Huddersfield have scored just six times in 12 top-flight matches – one of them an own goal – with Alex Pritchard, Christopher Schindler, Jorgensen and Philip Billing their only other scorers.

The Terriers' startling lack of goals remains Wagner's biggest conundrum, but he must also decide who to draft in at left-back against Wolves in the absence of Chris Lowe.

Lowe is recovering from shoulder damage following an awkward landing in the 1-1 home draw against West Ham before the international break. Erik Durm is expected to replace him.

Midfielder Danny Williams may return to contention after completing a week's full training during the club's squad break in Marbella.

Williams has been restricted to a solitary appearance in the Carabao Cup defeat at Stoke in August due to a troublesome knee injury.

Huddersfield are bidding to make it three league games unbeaten and climb out of the bottom three, but Wagner is full of admiration for Wolves and expects another tough encounter.

"It is obvious they are not a normal promotion team," he added. "They are on a different level to the teams that got promoted in the past.

"They have invested money, this is the truth, but they have done it smart.

"They got promoted by a lot of points and have been able to transform their form and quality into the Premier League."
