Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle defends Lee Clark sacking

Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle says that he "lost faith" in Lee Clark's ability to lead the club to Championship promotion.

Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle has claimed that he had "lost faith" with manager Lee Clark, prompting the club to axe the coach.

The surprise sacking of the 39-year-old came last week after the League One side dropped out of the automatic promotion places.

"I had lost faith in [Clark's] ability to get the club into the top two," Hoyle told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I had also lost the faith that in a play-off final he could do it. The pressure would maybe have been too much for him."

Huddersfield announced the appointment of former Leeds United manager Simon Grayson yesterday.
