A Sam Clucas strike just before half time has given Steve Bruce's Hull City a 1-0 lead against Huddersfield Town.

The game's first chance fell to Huddersfield's Harry Bunn, who picked up Tommy Smith's pass before shooting over the bar.

Isaac Hayden tried to create a chance for the hosts after the half-hour mark, but Nikica Jelavic could not connect with a cross.

Hull City took the lead on 39 minutes, when debutant Clucas scored from close range after his initial shot was saved by Alex Smithies.
