Neil Lennon appointed new Hibernian boss

Hibernian confirm the appointment of former Celtic boss Neil Lennon as their new manager on a two-year deal.

Scottish Championship side Hibernian have confirmed the appointment of Neil Lennon as their new manager on a two-year deal.

Lennon has been out of management since leaving Bolton Wanderers in March having failed to keep the financially-stricken Trotters away from danger in the Championship.

The 44-year-old has also previously been in charge of Celtic, steering the Bhoys to three consecutive Scottish Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups.

He will be assisted at Easter Road by Garry Parker, with the club's 2016-17 campaign scheduled to start in July due to their involvement in the Europa League qualifying rounds.

"We are delighted to have secured a head coach of Neil's calibre and profile, and we look forward to him bringing his drive and mentality to our campaign to win the Championship this season and secure promotion back to the top flight of Scottish football," chairman Rod Petrie told the club's official website.

Chief executive Leeann Dempster added: "As soon as Neil was identified as the outstanding candidate we were determined to bring him to Easter Road. He has managed at a very high level, taking Celtic to the last 16 of the Champions League, and we were attracted by his ability to get the most out of players and his driven, winning mentality.

"On behalf of everyone at Hibernian FC we would like to extend a warm welcome to both Neil and Garry."

Lennon replaces Alan Stubbs at the club after he left to join Rotherham United having steered Hibs to Scottish Cup glory for the first time since 1902.
