Hertha humiliated by Hoffenheim

Hertha Berlin have found themselves on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing by Hoffenheim in this afternoon's Bundesliga clash at the Olympiastation.

The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute when John Brooks bundled the ball into his own net from close range, following a Roberto Firmino free kick.

Just two minutes later, Brooks fouled Sven Schipplock in the box to gift Hoffenheim a penalty, which was converted by Sejad Salihovic.

With eight minutes left in the first half, the away side were awarded a second spot kick when Nico Schulz brought down Andreas Beck in the area, and Salihovic once again made no mistake from 12 yards out.

With Hertha now in damage-limitation mode, Hoffenheim had to wait until the 74th minute to notch a fourth goal, with a swift counter-attack ending with Schipplock poking home from close range.

The humiliation was completed when Sebastian Rudy fired low past beleaguered Hertha goalkeeper Thomas Kraft into the bottom corner late on.
