Hamburg sack Mirko Slomka

Hamburger SV decide to part company with manager Mirko Slomka following the team's winless start to the new season.

Mirko Slomka has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Hamburger SV.

The six-time champions of Germany narrowly avoided relegation from the Bundesliga last term and have started the new season slowly, with one point being collected from a possible nine.

As a result, the board have decided that the time is right to part company with the 47-year-old, who only took charge at the Imtech Arena in February of this year.

Next up for Hamburg is a clash with champions Bayern Munich on Saturday afternoon.
