Getafe pay the penalty as Granada earn late point

Granada climb out of the La Liga relegation zone as two controversial penalty kicks help them earn a 2-2 draw at Getafe.

Granada have climbed out of the La Liga relegation zone after scoring a last-minute equaliser to claim an unlikely draw at Getafe.

The hosts took the lead twice at Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez, but two controversial penalties ensured that Juan Antonio Anquela's men travelled home with a potentially invaluable point.

Juan Rodriguez tapped home from close range to give Getafe the lead on 19 minutes, however the visitors were level just nine minutes later under very dubious circumstances.

David Abraham was wrongly adjudged to have handled the ball by the referee, but Guilherme Siqueira showed no mercy as he thumped the resultant spot-kick into the top-left corner.

Getafe were back in front three minutes before half time when Paco Alcacer breached the offside trap and beat Roberto with a cheeky lob.

Granada piled forward in the second half, but it was the hosts that looked the more likely side to add to their tally, as Adrian Colunga and Alvaro Vasquez both struck the woodwork.

However, in the final minute of stoppage time, the referee intervened once more and awarded the away side a second penalty for hand ball - this time against Rafa Lopez.

Siqueira remained cool and found the net again, firing the ball into the bottom-left corner.
