Getafe vs Racing - prediction, team news, lineups

Getafe and Racing de Santander will continue their respective La Liga campaigns with a contest at Estadio Coliseum on Sunday evening.

The home side opened their new La Liga season with a 3-0 defeat to Alaves, while Racing Santander started life back at this level with a 2-2 draw against Villarreal.

Match preview

Getafe had a disastrous start to their 2026-27 La Liga campaign, suffering a 3-0 defeat to Alaves, with all three goals arriving after Kiko Femenia had been sent off.

The Deep Blue Ones finished seventh in La Liga last season to qualify for the Conference League playoff round, and they recorded a 3-1 win over Partizan in the first leg of their European affair on Thursday.

Jose Bordalas' side are therefore in a strong position to qualify for the league stage, but they will first be bidding to get back to winning ways in Spain's top flight.

Getafe have been incredibly busy this summer, adding 12 players to their squad, while there have been eight departures, so there is a fresh look to the team this term.

The Deep Blue Ones have won eight and lost seven of their previous 20 matches against Racing Santander in all competitions, with the other five games finishing level.

The last match between these two sides took place in May 2012, with the points being shared in a 1-1 draw, but Getafe did win the reverse fixture 2-1 in January of the same year.

Racing Santander are back at this level for the first time since 2011-12, and they have spent time in the third tier since last being present in La Liga.

The Green and Whites opened their 2026-27 La Liga campaign with a 2-2 draw against Villarreal; the promoted outfit actually led by two goals before conceding twice in the latter stages of the first period, but one point represented a strong start to the season.

Jose Alberto's side are the reigning Segunda Division champions, and they have been busy during the summer market, boosting their squad with eight new signings.

Racing Santander's performance against Villarreal last time out would have boosted confidence in the camp, and it will be fascinating to see how the Green and Whites perform this term.

Team News

Getafe will be without the services of both Juanmi and Christantus Uche on Sunday through injury.

Abdel Abqar was sent off in the team's European affair last time out, but the centre-back is available for this match and is set to be in the starting side.

Enes Unal got off the mark against Partizan, and the 29-year-old is set to feature in the starting side, while Martin Satriano is also in line for a spot in the final third.

Femenia will miss out through suspension after his red card against Alaves.

As for Racing Santander, Pedro Felipe is out until early September through injury, but the visitors are otherwise in strong shape for the contest.

Head coach Alberto could name the same side that started against Villarreal last time out given the impressive nature of the performance and result.

There is once again expected to be a spot at left-back for Jorge Salinas despite suggestions that the defender could leave before the end of the window; both Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are keen.

Getafe possible starting lineup:

Soria; Abqar, Romero, Dakonam; Garcia, Martin, Mangala, Mojica; Terrats; Unal, Satriano

Racing de Santander possible starting lineup:

Agirrezabala; Mantilla, Hernando, Ramon, Salinas; Puerta, Martinez; Martin, Canales, Vicente; Villalibre

We say: Getafe 1-1 Racing de Santander

Racing Santander were impressive against Villarreal last time out, and we are expecting the visitors to be good enough for a share of the spoils this weekend.
