Fulham boss Kit Symons: Kevin McDonald deal is "dead"

Symons: Kevin McDonald deal is "dead"

Kit Symons has labelled Fulham's pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Kevin McDonald as "dead"

Disillusioned McDonald looked poised to leave Molineux this summer after previously claiming that he felt 'unwanted', with the Cottagers seeing two £1m bids rejected.

However, Symons says that he has shelved plans to sign the 26-year-old - whose contract expires next summer - after bringing Sakari Mattila to Craven Cottage this week.

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's Championship opener at Cardiff City, Symons said: "I think certainly that one has gone quiet now.

"We have signed the Finnish international Sakari Mattila, so I think that one is dead now."

Mattila is Fulham's eighth summer signing, following the likes of Andy Lonergan, Ben Pringle, Tom Cairney, Jazz Richards, Jamie O'Hara and Andrew Dawber to West London.

Everton starlet Luke Garbutt also joined on a season-long loan.
