Fulham boss Martin Jol quiet on Darren Bent's potential arrival

Fulham manager Martin Jol has tried to distance himself from speculation that Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is close to signing for the Cottagers.

Reports emerged this morning stating that the out-of-favour hitman was having a medical with the London club today, despite interest from Crystal Palace.

"People were telling me yesterday he's having a medical at Crystal Palace, so things are changing every day," The Chronicle quotes Jol as saying.

"He was on my list. I tried to get a few players in because I feel we need some pace up front. I've got two strikers, normally you have four, we'll try to get someone in."

Palace manager Ian Holloway revealed today that Fulham scuppered the Eagles' deal at the last minute.
