Marco Silva: Fulham boss ‘uneasy’ as Nottingham Forest link grows amid Nuno Espirito Santo unrest

‘Unhappy’ Silva in frame for Forest job amid Nuno turmoil

Marco Silva is said to be increasingly frustrated at Fulham and has now emerged as a serious contender to become the next Nottingham Forest manager.

The Portuguese tactician, who penned a new deal with the Cottagers in October 2023, is understood to be ‘unhappy’ with what he views as a lack of ambition during the summer window.

His discontent has been simmering since he publicly criticised the shortage of new arrivals last month, describing the club as ‘too passive’ in their efforts to strengthen the squad.

According to Football Insider, Silva is now willing to consider a new challenge in the Premier League and would be receptive to an approach if the right offer is placed on the table.

Silva’s frustration over Fulham transfer business

Silva’s dissatisfaction stems from a window that saw the club register a modest net spend of just over £20m.

With around seven departures, Fulham only made genuine reinforcements in the final hours of deadline day, bringing in three players to go with the earlier signing of backup goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.

Brazilian winger Kevin joined from Shakhtar Donetsk for a club-record fee of £34.6m, while Samuel Chukwueze and Jonah Kusi-Asare arrived on loan from AC Milan and Bayern Munich respectively.

It remains to be seen whether these additions will appease the long-serving manager, whose four-year tenure at the club now appears uncertain amid growing speculation over a potential move to Forest.

Silva linked with Forest amid Nuno tension

While Silva wrestles with frustration in West London, Nottingham Forest are dealing with turmoil of their own, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s position under growing scrutiny.

Nuno’s relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis is believed to have deteriorated in recent weeks, while tensions have also surfaced with newly appointed recruitment chief Edu Gasper.

Silva has allegedly been identified as Forest’s leading candidate should Nuno’s tenure come to an end.

The Fulham boss previously worked with Marinakis at Olympiacos in the 2015-16 season, and with these ties in place, speculation is mounting over a potential switch.
