Preview: France vs. Albania

Sports Mole previews Friday night's friendly in Rennes as Euro 2016 hosts France keep themselves occupied against Albania.

Euro 2016 hosts France will keep themselves busy with a pair of friendlies in the next week as other European sides battle in qualifying for a place to join them in a couple of summers.

First up for Les Bleus on Friday, before a visit from the Swedish in Marseille on Tuesday, is a match against Albania at the Stade de la Route de Lorient in Rennes.

Didier Deschamps's side have won three and drawn one of their friendlies since exiting the World Cup at the quarter-final stage to eventual winners Germany in Brazil.

Alexandre Lacazette, who has scored seven goals in five straight wins for Lyon, will be hoping for a start and he could line up in attack with Andre-Pierre Gignac - the only other player in Ligue 1 with a double-figure goal tally.

This is Albania's first game since last month's ugly scenes in Belgrade, when their qualifier against Serbia was abandoned after they decided to flee the pitch following an invasion by some Serbia supporters that was caused by an Albanian flag being flown above the players by a drone.

UEFA have since awarded Serbia with a 3-0 win for the game but also immediately docked the three points - a decision that Albania wanted to appeal.

That leaves Giovanni De Biasi's side second in Group I behind Denmark on goal difference, a position that is largely down to their impressive victory in Portugal during the opening round of fixtures.

These two sides were in qualifying together for the last European Championships and France won both games in 2011 by scorelines of 2-1 and 3-0.
