Ribery calls time on France career

Franck Ribery has retired from international football with France at the age of 31.

The Bayern Munich winger calls time on his international career with 81 caps and 16 goals to his name for Les Bleus.

He missed the recent World Cup in Brazil through injury and will now not feature at the European Championships in his homeland in two years' time.

"I want to dedicate myself more to my family and concentrate on the tasks at Bayern," he told Kicker.

"There were ups and downs, but now the time has come for a new chapter in my life."

Ribery started the 2006 World Cup final for France before failing to get out of the group stages in 2010.
