France coach Didier Deschamps confirms Karim Benzema injury

France boss Didier Deschamps confirms that Karim Benzema suffered a hamstring injury in the 4-0 win over Armenia, but remains unsure of its severity.

France coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that striker Karim Benzema suffered a hamstring injury in Thursday night's 4-0 friendly win over Armenia in Nice.

The Real Madrid hitman struck a quickfire brace in the final quarter of Les Bleus' victory, but hobbled off on the 80-minute mark clutching his calf to prompt concern over his fitness.

"Benzema has felt some great discomfort behind the thigh, [that's why] we take him off straight away," Deschamps told reporters.

"I hope that it is nothing serious but we don't know yet."

Goals either side of the break from Antoine Griezmann and Yohan Cabaye saw the hosts boast a 2-0 lead on 55 minutes.
