Mankowski: 'Spain are seducing Laporte'

France Under-21s boss Pierre Mankowski has claimed that Spain are attempting to 'seduce' Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.

The 21-year-old was born in France and currently represents their Under-21 team, but having been in Spain since 2009, is also eligible for La Roja having been capped by neither national team at senior level.

Laporte has recently revealed that he wants to represent the country of his birth at Euro 2016, but could still switch to Spain if a call does not arrive from Didier Deschamps.

"I talk frequently with him on this issue. It's a very personal decision for him to take. He wants to play for the France team and, apparently, Spain is seducing him with their team," Mankowski told L'Equipe.

"Didier Deschamps is observing him. There are a lot of players in his position. If we have five or six central defenders and add a seventh..."

Centre-back Laporte has 16 France Under-21 caps to his name.
