Barry Ferguson wants to stay at Fleetwood Town for the rest of the season

Barry Ferguson has said that he wants to stay at Fleetwood Town for the rest of the season.

The former Scotland captain joined the League Two side on loan until the start of January from Blackpool last week.

The 34-year-old told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I'm still contracted to Blackpool but ideally I would like to stay here until the end of the season.

"The way they want to do things and progress is right up my street."

Ferguson made his debut for Fleetwood in their 3-0 FA Cup win over Bromley.
