Half-Time Report: Chesterfield ahead at Fleetwood Town

Chesterfield ahead at Fleetwood

Chesterfield are leading Fleetwood Town 2-1 after 45 minutes of their Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Highbury Stadium.

Eoin Doyle had an early chance to open the scoring for the visitors, but after latching on to a ball over the top, he fired wide of the post.

They continued to dominate and Antoni Sarsevic came close with a strike that he drilled just wide.

In the 21st minute Chesterfield made their pressure count, as a free kick from Gary Roberts was met by Ian Evatt, who finished into the bottom corner.

They doubled their lead three minutes later, when Sam Morsy curled a strike from the edge of the box into the back of the net.

Doyle came close to grabbing a third when his chipped effort beat Scott Davies in the Fleetwood goal, but dropped wide of the post.

David Ball pulled a goal back for the hosts on the stroke of half time, as he headed in a cross from Jon Parkin.
