The 25-year-old only joined the Neroverdi on a permanent basis from Palermo in June, but he will spend the next season at the Viola.
Kurtic had a spell on loan at Torino last season and made 14 appearances as the club finished seventh in Serie A.
He has won 18 caps for Slovenia since making his debut in 2012.
