West Bromwich Albion target Josef de Souza rules out leaving Fenerbahce

West Bromwich Albion target Josef de Souza has ruled out leaving Fenerbahce in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old was on the verge of making a switch to The Hawthorns in the summer, with a reported fee of £10.6m having been agreed between the two sides.

The transfer fell through as the Baggies did not acquire a work permit for the Brazilian midfielder and were forced to bring in Grzegorz Krychowiak on loan from Paris Saint-Germain instead.

Despite the sacking of Tony Pulis earlier this month, there were rumours that Albion may look to revisit their interest but the Brazilian international has ruled out a January departure.

"Certainly the news is lies and fabrications. I want to stay at Fenerbahce," De Souza told Turkish outlet Sporx.

"I'm happy at the club, and I want to play my football here. I want to extend my contract with Fenerbahce, and become champions."

West Brom travel to Swansea City on Saturday in their first game under new manager Alan Pardew.
