Preview: Fenerbahce vs. Lazio

Fenerbahce vs. Lazio

Fenerbahce will attempt to secure a home advantage when they welcome Italian outfit Lazio in the first leg of their quarter-final clash in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Turkish side overcame Viktoria Plzen in the previous round to advance to this stage of the competition, while Lazio were comfortable winners over Stuttgart.

Fenerbahce will enter the match full of confidence having won four of their last five matches in all competitions, a run of form that has left them in second position in their domestic table, just four points behind leaders Galatasaray.

Lazio, however, have won just two of their last six matches in Serie A, with that disappointing run of form dropping them into fifth position in the table.

The home side could name the same team that overcame Akhisar Bld. at the weekend, with former Liverpool pair Dirk Kuyt and Raul Meireles both starting. Miroslav Stoch is also pushing for inclusion, but is expected to start on the bench.

Lazio, meanwhile, are expected to recall defender Marius Stankevicius, but Louis Saha should keep his place in attack alongside experienced German forward Miroslav Klose.

Recent form:

Fenerbahce: WWDWW Lazio: WLWLW

Possible starting lineups:

Fenerbahce: Demirel; Kormaz, Irtegun, Ziegler; Meireles, Baroni, Topuz, Erkin; Sow, Kuyt, Webo

Lazio: Marchetti; Biava, Rady, Stankevicius, Onazi; Gonzalez, Hernanes, Ledesma, Cana; Saha, Klose

Sports Mole says: 1-1
