Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale has revealed that centre-back Doug Bergqvist has been allowed to depart the Grecians on a free transfer.
The 20-year-old, who has also previously played for Reading and Queens Park Rangers, moved to England from Sweden at the age of 10.
The defender has struggled for first-team football this season and has therefore been granted a move to Ostersunds FK, where he has signed a two-year deal.
"It is with great reluctance that we have allowed Doug to leave the club, but in our current circumstances we are not in a position to guarantee that we would be able to offer him a suitable contract beyond the current season," Tisdale told the club's official website.
"Therefore it would be difficult to stand in the way of this new opportunity for Dougie and we wish him well at his new club."
Bergqvist has spent a loan spell with Welling United this season.
