Roberto Martinez: 'Steven Naismith to Norwich City not done'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that Steven Naismith's future will be decided in a couple of weeks, with Norwich said to be close to signing the Scot for £8m.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that Steven Naismith is not on the verge of joining fellow Premier League side Norwich City, despite reports to the contrary.

Recent reports have suggested that Norwich will pay £8m for the Scot's services when the January transfer window opens later this week, but Martinez thinks that a decision will not be made until after Everton's five games in the next 14 days.

"[Steven and I] speak constantly - in terms of making a decision about the next step and his future, it's going to be over the next couple of weeks," Martinez told reporters.

"We've got a really busy period now and we need to make sure we go through these games. Mid-January will be a perfect moment to have a little bit more of a calm period to look into detail."

Naismith, who is under contract at Everton until 2019, has only made four Premier League starts for the Toffees this season.
