Phil Jagielka expects Everton to be busy in transfer market

Everton captain Phil Jagielka believes that a busy transfer window for the club is inevitable following their struggles this season.

Phil Jagielka has revealed that he expects Everton to be busy in the summer transfer window following their struggles in the Premier League this season.

Roberto Martinez's side have found it tough to build on a fifth-placed finish last season and currently sit 12th in the table, but Jagielka believes that keeping key players fit is just as important as bringing in new recruits.

"There will be some people that leave, inevitably with contracts running out or because games are not getting played and you never know what sort of offers will come in for players," the England defender told the Liverpool Echo. "I wouldn't use the word overhaul though.

"We've proved that we are still a pretty good team, it is just finding the formula.

"We've had quite a few lengthy injuries to key players and some that are obvious and some that are not so obvious, so it is making sure they stay fit and try and progress for the rest of the season and we try and get a healthy squad for the start of next."

Everton are back in action against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.
