New Everton signing Steven Naismith reveals that the chance to play under David Moyes was a key factor in his decision to join the club.

New Everton signing Steven Naismith has revealed that the chance to work under David Moyes was a major factor in his decision to join the club.

Naismith joined the Toffees on a free transfer yesterday after rejecting the chance to transfer his contract to Charles Green's newco Rangers.

The Scotland international revealed that he spoke to former teammates David Weir and Nikica Jelavic ahead of the move, and they convinced him that Goodison Park would be the perfect move.

"My decision to move to Everton was, first of all, that under the manager's leadership over the last 10 years they have been one of the most successful clubs in terms of growing and the facilities are world class," said Naismith.

"I think last season showed that, finishing seventh in the world's best league and above your nearest rivals and doing quite well in the cups. It is what every player strives for.

"I have heard a lot from various people who have been in contact with the club over the last few years and there are some great guys in the squad. I spoke to Nikica and David Weir especially. He has been a big part of my career and he told me I would love it and his words mean a lot to me."

The 25-year-old, who spent five years at Ibrox before the move, has been tipped to shine by the now-Everton coach David Weir.
