David Moyes says sorry to Howard Webb after arguing with him during Everton's defeat to Chelsea.

Everton manager David Moyes has apologised to referee Howard Webb for arguing with him during his side's defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The Toffees lost 2-1 to the European champions at Goodison Park, in a game where the Merseysiders' boss believed that his side deserved a free kick in the dying moments of the match.

Moyes met Webb at the full-time whistle to bombard him with questions about the incident, but has since apologised for his actions.

"Since [the argument] I've been to Howard and apologised because I shouldn't be doing that coming off the pitch. I've apologised for that," said Moyes.

"The real reason was that I thought it was a free kick in the 92nd minute on [Leon] Osman right on the edge of the box by Frank Lampard and he never gave it.

"In a game like this for Everton to go away with no points was hard to take."

Everton travel to Newcastle United on Wednesday.
