Everton's Leighton Baines scores in comeback friendly, six months after ankle op

Leighton Baines scores in comeback match

Everton left-back Leighton Baines showed signs of recovery on Wednesday night by scoring in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

The England international has been sidelined for six months after undergoing two separate ankle operations.

Baines has stepped up his return to the first team by taking part and scoring in the Toffees' 4-3 win over Preston North End.

According to The Express, Everton will arrange another match for Baines next week in the hope of getting the left-back fit for the Premier League match against Aston Villa on November 21.

Brendan Galloway has been playing in Baines's role during his absence.
