Alex Iwobi: 'I want more responsibility at Everton'

New signing Alex Iwobi says that he hopes to be handed more responsibility at Everton, having ended his long-term association with Arsenal.

Alex Iwobi has revealed that he hopes to take on an important role during his time at Everton.

The midfielder had been preparing for the new campaign at Arsenal when Everton were successful with a big-money bid for his signature during the final 24 hours of the transfer window.

Having being regarded as a squad member with the Gunners, Iwobi has acknowledged that he wants to be given more responsibility after being encouraged to make the move by Marco Silva.

The 23-year-old told the club's official website: "The offer was too attractive for me to turn down. The manager was telling me: 'There is a spot for you, we will take care of you'. Basically, all the things you want to hear as a player.

"He has given me the confidence I will do well. I am ready for a new challenge and chapter in my life.

"I always had that youngster tag at Arsenal, so hopefully with this move I am able to make a name for myself in the Premier League and create history with Everton. Hopefully I will be able to take on a bit more responsibility and add something to the team as well."

Iwobi contributed 11 goals from 70 starts and 30 substitute outings for Arsenal in the Premier League.
