Everton are reportedly offering midfielder James Rodriguez a new contract, tying him to the club until 2023, as Carlo Ancelotti aims to secure Champions League football.

Everton are already reportedly working on extending the contract of Colombian international James Rodriguez, aiming for an extension until 2023.

Rodriguez arrived at Goodison Park in the summer of 2020 and has had a crucial involvement in Carlo Ancelotti's side, with the team still in the hunt for Champions League football, currently sitting six points behind Chelsea in fourth.

The 29-year-old is among a number of players whose contracts expire at the end of next season, and it is believed that Seamus Coleman and Gylfi Sigurdsson are the players in the most advanced stages of new deal negotiations.

Spanish outlet Marca reports that Rodriguez has found good stability at Everton with regular game time and that increases the likelihood of the playmaker agreeing new terms.

The former Real Madrid midfielder is about to have his 30th birthday, meaning that a new contract up until 2023 would see him stay on Merseyside until he is 33.

Rodriguez has played 25 games for the Toffees this season, scoring six goals and providing nine assists for the team.
