Coleman: 'Wickham should have been sent off'

Everton defender Seamus Coleman feels that his side didn't get all the decisions they deserved in their 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

The Toffees battled back from a goal down to earn a point at the Stadium of Light as Coleman earned a penalty, which was converted by Leighton Baines.

However, the Republic of Ireland international believes that Connor Wickham, who committed the foul against him, should have been sent off for the tackle, and that Jordi Gomez could also have received a second yellow card for diving.

"It was a stone wall [penalty]," Coleman told the club's official website. "A few of their lads weren't happy about it for whatever reason which shocked me. As if I would go down in the box when I am one on one with the keeper. I felt him clip my ankle and thankfully Bainesy put it away.

"I'm not one to get a player sent off but I felt that if I hadn't been taken down I was one-on-one with the keeper, so obviously he was the last man and that's what the rules are.

"Jordi Gomez as well – he took a dive and that would have been a second yellow card. Sometimes you get these decisions and sometimes you don't."

Roberto Martinez's men are 10th in the Premier League following their draw against the Black Cats.
