Seamus Coleman has insisted that he is ready to fight for his place in Everton's starting XI.
The Irishman had an injury-plagued campaign last season and has been used largely as an impact substitute by Blues boss David Moyes since, but the 23-year-old has said he is ready to stake a claim for a starting role.
"It is going to be hard to break into the team this season as we have some quality players and everyone is playing well, but hopefully I can work hard, play well and reproduce that form I once showed," said Coleman.
"My first season was great for me and I really enjoyed it. I was looking forward to getting into my second season but I got injured and one or two other things happened.
"But I am feeling fit now and can hopefully stay clear of injuries."
Coleman joined the Toffees from Sligo Rovers for £150k in 2009.
